- Information
from the latest versions of the British Pharmacopoeia (2005), European
Pharmacopoeia (5.4 so far), and United Sates Pharmacopoeia (USP29) and
United Sates National Formulary (USNF 24) will be included
- Number of countries processed for proprietary preparations increased from 33 to 37. New countries include:
- Czech Republic
- Hungary
- Russia*
- Venezuela
- Expansion of synonyms
- Now includes French, Latin, Spanish, and Russian* International Nonproprietary Names.
- Increase in Scandinavian synonyms
- Increased coverage of 'Streetþ drug names
- For the first time Graphic (Structural) formulae will be included for selected drugs
- General increase in the number of monographs
- Extra
information will inevitably lead to larger book and we may publish in 2
volumes. If this is the case we would like to take the opportunity to
increase the size of the text across the book to make it easier to
read. Presentation in a slip case similar to Clarke or the British
Pharmacopoeia is a possibility.
*Russian
will be included in Cyrillic script and there will be a separate
Cyrillic index to allow these names to be looked up
